That might be piolet1 's way to do things but that not all true,Yes you have some brokers who tell you 6 mths to a year but most of the bokers out there will use you and if they don't its because it's a insurance thing,And it is hard to find a decent broker who is going to make sure your making money that's your job .You have some good one's and you have some cheap ones. And then you have smart ##### who think they have what you need, there are tones of Brokers out there so don't worry with pilot1.

Honestly I never had issues with getting loads with a new MC number. There were a lot of loads that I could have negotiated much higher on but that was my own fault from not having enough experience and had nothing to do with my MC number. Some brokers want you to have your MC number to be at least one year old. When it turns one year old your reputation and negotiating power goes up depending on how well your safestat or csa sore and level of service was. IF the broker is really in a crunch to cover the load than it won't matter how new or old your mc number is. If your Mc number is very new they will just ask for a few references. Putting the companies down that you were leased to before you got your mc number would make a good reference if you had a good level of service with them.

@Dreammaker - Part of your statement I'll agree with; meaning the insurance issue. Secondly; wether a truck hauls for me 1 time or 20 times is really irrelevent to me, unless your one of my "core carrier's". Yes; most brokers have a "go-to" list. Secondly; not sure if your referring to me as the smart-a_s or not, but it does'nt matter. Some brokers have whats called a "relaxed stance"; I have a more "postured-stance", simply because of a fresno scam that hit us approx. 4-5 yrs ago; that cost us $30K-$40K -retail rate.(cheap-load)

Story short is; we put ourselves in a Liable situation, where there never shoud have been any in the first place. $30K plus, is alot of profit that went out the window that day. To go with the general opinion here, most brokers look at the three questions, that I believe that LSOZR; stated and that was. 1) MC#/safety record. 2) Hauled for me before 3) Check first to see if you have regulars available.

@Jack5 - You stated that "IF the broker is really in a crunch to cover the load than it won't matter how new or old your mc number is". When a customer calls me up with the ol' "I gotta load that popped up" first thing I'm looking for is a regular. If I cant find one; then it's the ol' spot market truck- Which means; spot market rate! Driver makes more with that anyway. When we don't plan accordingly, we put ourselves into a "liability" situation. Call it what you may; but in the end our job is to protect the freight..
Now; I won't put a driver on the hook for something he did'nt do either, some customers will look for the "charge-back scenario" to the O/O. Only if he/she owns the mistake!

    Good day guy's..
