You spend 18 hrs a day in front of the computer dispatching 1 truck. Something just doesn't seem right about this.

Some people just are not that good at dispatching. ..
He's definitely not doing something right if he thinks he can keep 5 trucks loaded.. we never put more then 3 per person.

I can't do anything but sit here and look for loads I sort thrue bad and keep the good, I make my driver a route so he knows when he leaves out all his runs, my wife works second shift and doesn't get home till midnight. I am unable to drive any kind of vehicle due to an injury, doesnt make me a bad dispatcher just gives me something to do. making the hotshot 24,000n a month you add it up and see if im a stupid dispatcher. What would you rather do look at load boards or sit in a chair and get fat eating everything in sight. If you want to see my work give me one of your drivers if you have any and see how long he stays with me.

Seems your post is more advertising your business then anything else. . As far as 6k per week I should hope so, we can do that with a 3 car wedge..

I don`t recall anyone calling you a "stupid dispatcher". All Truckon was saying was how can you expect to manage multiple drivers if you are currently exhausting your whole day on the 1 driver you have now.

I didn't get the chance to read through the whole thread but I'm an independent dispatcher as well as the owner of my own trucking company with my husband. I think it's difficult for drivers to sit on load boards while they're on the road and go back and forth with brokers about the rate and pick and etc. I currently work with 3 O/O as well as my own trucks. I never push my O/O for loads but instead they'll call me when they need one. Sometimes they find their own loads and sometimes they don't. I consider myself a back up for the O/O who can do a lot themselves but sometimes just need a little bit of help.

Here's the trouble with dispatching services. Let's say you get 5% of gross. my expesnes run about $1.20/mile. Are you going to fight for that $2.00/mile load or take a $1.80/mile load ? If I'm booking myself let's say a 500 mile load. The difference in profit from these two loads is $400 vs. $300. The difference in the amount you would make would be $50 vs. $45. AND if I hire you and you settle for the $1.80/mile load I also have to pay you $45 of the $300. So now I have only netted $300-$45=$255. I suppose you can see where I would rather spend some time booking my own loads and make $400/day vs. $255/day.

I'm sure you are good at what you do, and this is just one example. But at the very heart of the matter this scenario will come up again and again. And you with only $5 to lose or gain simply do not have the motivation I do with $145 to lose or gain.
