like a normal car hauler you see going down the road that has a few nice cars?
I know there are a few different things out there like above, closed trailers where your hauling cars that companies dont want to be seen by outside people. I worked at a Honda test track as an Executive chef a few years ago and we got tons of closed trailers pulling in that hauled cars they didnt want anyone seeing.

Then there are the haulers for like car shows and stuff

Side note watched a guy try back into a spot for over a hour last night, he was hauling several trucks that were connected to each other and each liked going a different direction

Learn that us transporters are not out here to move your car cheap, the better you pay, the better the transporter that you will get.

It is one thing to post this question EVERYWHERE, but seriously, would avoid pasting the same response in the wrong place?

thanks for the input so far guys. i know that brokers don't always have a solid name in this industry, its hard to generalize an entire group.

Car brokers have a hard life, complaints and insurance claims. People want door to door and the transporter can't give that because they can't get around in cities so they call the person who's car they are hauling and they have to go where the truck is and some times it's in the middle of the night. Complaints about oil all over their car from the car placed on top and damage loading is very high. I know the transporter must have insurance and you check their MC# to see that they have the proper 1,000,000 insurance but a lot don't have proper cargo insurance and a lot will say it was damaged before they picked it up and if there is a problem with signing for the car they tell them they will put it in storage until they take their car. Transporters can haul a car for .50 per mile and it's whatever the broker gets the car for is his pay. Big headache for the broker because that's the one they call.

Hey! There's so much free information online about getting into the business but here's a quick run down. You need to get file for your DOT Authority, your BOC-3 filing, fulfill your surety bond requirements and UCR registration. Once you have that, you'll need to sign up for Central Dispatch and a brokering CRM. Ive used both AutoBrokerDispatch and JTracker but I always recommend my students use JTracker. It's easier to use. Then you want to buy leads. This is how you will get your clients when just starting out. How many leads to buy? About 20-30 per day to start and then adjust as you go along. That's pretty much it. As far as learning to price and how to convince clients to choose you, or setting up your website, just google Auto Transport Broker Training and you'll find a few people offer training for it. Hope that helps.

    XOXO,
    Ashley :)
