Brokerage authority

For most insurance carriers you would need a separate corporate identity, separate location & phone number for the BA

 

When are you looking to start your brokerage depsingh? Do you only have 1 truck?

 

I opened up a brokerage so I can bring freight in from places I don't have trucks at, but it benefits me so it was worth it. If you wan't to open up a brokerage and have extra money I think its a good idea but remember it takes a long time to build up credit on it especially if your not doing high volume. If you have a purpose for it and want to make money off of it you should do it, everything you need to learn on how to get customers you can read online or in a book don't waste money on broker school. Or you can always open one up build credit and then find someone that knows what they are doing and partner up with them to start growing it.

 

^^^ wise advise. In a 10 years even if you dont do much business, your brokerage will still be 10 years old and that means a lot to people. It will benefit you. People feel more comfortable with doing business with older companies.
I just had a load from some small broker I never heard of. But when I saw his authority letter was issued in 1990, I felt much more comfortable dealing with him
