I'm an owner/operator of 7 months pulling a flatbed. I was under a brokered load when the Worldwide Broker told me I had three days to deliver my load or I would have to buy it. I think its wrong because he told me the Michigan company shut down for the holidays and did not open back up until after the first of the year. It cost me a lot of money and stress getting the load delivered but it was done.

In the meantime, I found out the broker lied as the company received freight EVERY day except Christmas day.

What can I do about him? Anything?

The freight I had was a load of steel rods.....tarped! Not perishable period.'

    Thanks,
    Terry

You should have find it out before picking up that they will be open,so you can drive smooth with no push. Other possibility they may need the product in three days for further production. So just glad you made it. Brokers behave like this, so never take them serious. As soon as you get the load confirmation, contact with shipper and consignee for extra info.

Before you signed the load paper they sent you read the small print, if its not in writing all they are doing is playing with you?

if i have doubts or whatever. i always call the receiver.

i'm curious as to how it cost you a lot of money to deliver the load???? and how many miles was that load you were stressing to deliver in 3 days?

on another note, it is possible. my first year back out on the road. i swore i'll never work the holidays again. picking up loads was no problem, but getting them delivered, however, no one was opened. half my loads were waiting with other trucks also waiting to deliver. good thing someone knew how to get a hold of someone to get their loads.

There's not much you can do at this point other than not haul for them again. I agree with the other posters, when in doubt make a phone call to the shipper or receiver.

I too would like to know the origin and destination. Even a 2,000 mile trip (approximately 650 miles a day) can be done in three days comfortably and stress less.
Problem is....there are far too many lazy drivers, and those that can't pass up a truck stop...and brokers know this....so they just kinda 'push' that type along to get THEIR paycheck sooner rather than later. Broker don't know who is and who isn't a 'runner', so they play games with everyone.

I despise brokers baby sitting me. I can do my job without someone calling me every couple hours....and I NEVER believe their lies.

Reasons like this is why brokers have to hide. This is one of the main reasons I started the brokers hiding thread. Sadly I must say get used to it, just part of hauling brokered loads. Most of the time when a broker opens their mouth open they are lieing.
