At my receiver, 2nd & last stop. I'm on time but the receiver is closed for Christmas. What should I do? about 120 miles from my house. Should I layover & miss Christmas? I have a family also. All you new guys wanting to get into trucking get ready for this stuff.

If it is your truck and trailer. I would maybe drop the trailer and put a pin lock on it. Otherwise I would be headed for the house. It is always a good idea to call before the day before to find out what various receivers holiday hours are. And when I say you call I do not mean have the broker, dispatch, whoever do it. If you want to be certain, you call and get the person you talk to full name and maybe a cell phone no.

I always call when there's a holiday or any doubts about their hours. I learned the hard way during my first 6 months OTR. Lessons learned and remembered.

I'm prepared for missing Christmas some, not saying I like it but I have missed 8 years of my 10 I did with the Sheriff's Office. Not just truckers that work Holidays. Sucks for alot of others also! Sorry...Merry Christmas & hope you get home soon & safe.
