Greetings! We're reaching out because the TALKING is over and NOW is time for ACTION. We're looking to start out our own Freight Brokering Business. And before you send us hate mail......understand this: My partner has than 25 years experience as a trucker....and I have more than 15 years in corporate america and project management and previous work experience in freight brokerage on a small scale.

But now -- NOW we're ready to pool our talents, experience and resources together and do it big and do it right. And we both know the only way to become good at anything is to associate ourselves with the experts and get advice from the experts....that means YOU!!! Some of you have tried it and made mistakes and learned from them; Some of you failed and still have no clue why; Some of you hate brokers -- why is that? And some of you have valuable insight but have never shared it or never really been heard -- we want to hear from you.

Thank you in advance for all your wisdom.

Good luck with thinking truck drivers are experts on freight brokering. If you do it, be sure to have plenty of money available for the learning curve. It does sound - "Big" - as if you're going to roar in with lower prices to attract volume shippers. I sure hope not. Prices are already right at survival level. If you look around in here, you'll find answers to all your questions.

all these posts and really one person replied with decent information -- wow

i am also starting in freight brokering and the reason i came to this forum is for information from people that have been doing it for some time, not rhetoric about popcorn

good luck with that I thought about getting into that when I started my company but after a little research into it no way i will do it now especially with no experience in brokering or even dispatching. it will cost alot of money upfront one question you have to ask yourself is how do you plan on paying drivers? drivers aren't going to want to wait 60, 90, and yes even 180 days to get paid thats how long shippers wait to pay. most brokers pay out in 30 days and alot of them offer a quick pay option for 3-4% to pay your within 1-4 days unless you have a few million dollars laying around I wouldn't even attempt this. now i would suggest start small 3pl dispatching not hard to learn very little over head and easily manageable providing you know what your doing and can keep drivers happy.

Maybe you outta stop and figure out why that is. But, allow me to give you the Cliff Notes of this particular situation. These, "Brokers" out there are a dime a dozen. They promise this and that, but the reality is they, more or less, are legal thieves. Broker companies get called on the carpet and exposed for what they actually are and in the end, end up closing shop. Think there might be some serious issues of, "TRUST" between drivers and brokers? Hmm, let's ponder that a moment.

What are YOU, and the OP for that matter, gonna offer these O/O, small companies? What's gonna make you different than Broker XYZ? How are YOU gonna build trust between yourself/co and those drivers out there? There has been way to much back stabbing out there, are you gonna break that mold?
You need to sell yourself to these drivers, not the other way around.
So, until you get it all figured out and help these drivers succeed in business and profit without robbing them blind, enjoy the popcorn, sir!

The proof is on you. :)
