Just became a freight broker recently and want to know how drivers feel about getting updates on their locations. I have to make sure my customer's shipments are on track, but don't want to have to constantly bother the drivers about their location. Any suggestions?

I usually pre empt the broker call by calling when loaded, end of the day with ETA, and final out.
Agreed, often times the broker call is a bad time to be answering the phone. Not their fault, just the nature of the business.PSUMoose and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
i might call when loaded, and when i drop, dont want to hear from you at all, no offense, will give broker an ETA when i leave site.

I dont answer phone calls from numbers i dont know and i silence my phone EVERY night before bed.
If you text me thats the best method in my opinion.Last edited: Apr 17, 2015

I love the ones that wake you up at 0200 2 wks after the loads been delivered.
also had them call 4 times a day, real pain.
why do you need to be updated 3 times a day? TQL
bored?
if you deal with drivers that need their hands held all day, try a better carrier.Joetro, kimbosa and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I email you my location at or before 8 am daily. If you need to worry about me I will let you know. Otherwise leave me alone. No news is good news.
kimbosa Thanks this.
