been lurking here for a few weeks now and have a question. I have been helping father in law out while i am laid off and now i am thinking of buying my own truck and hauling freight again. i drove for a reefer company a 13 years ago. right now we haul soymeal and grain local and farm equipment regional but i am thinking of trying to haul out and right back trying to be home on weekends. my father in law has his own authority and insurance and does some hauling for a couple of maufacturing plants around but it is only if they call him. he doesn't really look for loads.

i live in central missouri and would like to run regional out into midwest, south or southeast and right back to missouri. since i can lease on to him and use his authority and insurance what kind of rates could i look for to get out of missouri and get back in. i am leaning toward a 53' reefer or dryvan but i will have access to a stepdeck, lowboy, or grain trailer. i have thought about leasing on to a missouri freight company but i don't like the idea of not being able to control the when and where of what i'm doing. Landstar seems like a good choice but i don't know if i could get on with them as a bco but i am wondering about thier brokerage service along with alan lund or tql

Alan is as low as it gets, tql is a bit better but both bottom barrel blood suckers. There really isnt much i can tell you today other than every man for himself..... Its sloooooooooow right now.

Just look at the load boards to get an idea, if i were you id go for the 53' reefer, can always stick a dry load in a reefer but cant go the other way.

Broker is not paying Owner Operators Drivers for the loads they haul, we are trying to collect only 1300.00 and they won’t pay, so I want to get the word out to others so they don’t get ripped off by this company.

Just an FYI it has been 2 months with two many promises to pay and not doing so. However I believe with my persistence and my being a pain in the ##### they are now sending a check we hope.
