and it ain't even in yet!
    Here's what I am up to this time;
    I have a 2004 M-2 business class Freightliner with a Rollback body.
I bought from Caterpillar a brand new zero miles short block.
Got it home and popped the box open to find there is no camshaft in it.
Mine is perfect and I can use it; just seemed kinda strange, as this should be a rotating asssembly and included.

    A) - did I get screwed for a cam here? It was from a DEALER.
    and more important:

    B) - Can anyone send me a PDF File of assembly procedures
for 3126 CAT motor; I'm no rookie and not my first rodeo
but want it by the book - it was 4 grand of hard earned.
I do already have the head torque specs and sequence.
This has to go in real soon......kinda desparate. THANK YOU!!

    Rolls Canardly again,
It's been a while. I gave up and towed this beast to the Dealer.
The trade-off of high Dealer labor cost vs. you know it's done right the first time - is costing me a bundle; right before Christmas, no less.
New clutch while it's out, new wiring harness from computer to motor,
new windshield, and now I'm broke - but on the road.

My Turbo cartridge bearings are shot and I need one; Santa.
Anybody have a used one cheap? Call for specs.

    Turbo - OR7587
    Cartridge - OR7588

These are the codes displayed now; or still; 545 164 A65 136.
    Anyone know what they are??

So the motor was installed by Sherwood Freightliner,Dunmore. Was told
it was road tested by the Service Manager; I even remember he said he
took it up Route 11, several highway miles away. Was told it ran enough
to get it home with the bad turbo; went about 45 mph max. Good job.
Tried it in the lot -and it poured antifreeze out a 2" hole in block, looks
to me like motor was installed and they rolled it out the backdoor to sit.
How can you drive it without the block heater installed?? It would seize.
This alone did not give me a warm fuzzy on the quality, or the level of
repair service provided. Kind of dark out and Serv. Mg. put a flashlight
under to find leak and real quick pulled it away, but I already saw it and
knew what was wrong. They quick put a new heater in, and then I went
to load my pickup on the rollback to go home and the PTO for hyd. pump
did not work. In their defense, They fixed issue with no charge,
next day;but it should have been checked.
They had two days notice I was paying and picking it up.
Speaking of paying; the estimate was 3,500.00 and final was 8,100.00.

So the new motor solved the oil in the water issue - all the other
problems were still there. why would you install a new motor and not
put it on the computer to at least pinpoint the no power and cutout issues when under load??

Here I am five grand for the motor, :biggrin_2552:
and 8 grand to install by the Dealer,:biggrin_25510:
and still can't use the truck!!

    Merry Christmas, all,
and may next year be better!
