odometer broken. speedometer works

    Hi. this is my first post here so be nice. I have a 99 freightliner fl112. The odometer recently stopped working but the speedometer works fine. Is there anything else that could be the problem besides the gauge itself? I know the vss feeds the ecu with a speed signal and the ecu feeds the gauge. Does the odometer and the speedometer use the same signal? The speedometer and odometer are both part of the same gauge. Thanks

    FL112 is Columbia. They gpt simplified dahsboars with segment style LCD display. These dashboards got problem with internal EPROM memory. So I sugest bad dashboard ore J1587 wiring problems

    It is not a lcd display. It has needle gauges with a roller for the odometer. Does anyone know for sure if the speedo and odometer use the same input signal wire? I just dont want to replace a gauge if thats not the problem. Or if someone could point me in the direction of a wiring diagram for the gauges that would be great too.Thanks

    i've never seen '99 freightliner with non electronic instruments. but on old rigs with magnetic sensors there were electromagnetic counters (like on old xerox copiers). Every puls (after divader) clics counter. May be this counter is bad now.

    And it is not all. Very old speedo had small motor inside and really it was traditional speedo (but motor driven) with small plastic gears inside. with gears worn odo wont working
