I just bought an 07 Classic, i havent ran a freightliner in about 12 yrs so lots of things are new too me with this truck. I am getting a bit of movement in my telescopic wheel and wonder if anyone knows if the u joints or the slip shift can be greased at all to take this noisy chatter away it doesnt look like an easy column take apart. Thanks

Same problem here but mine's a 99. My mechanic is going to replace steering shaft ujoints (2) and both tierods to remedy the problem. Says it shouldn't cost much.

I have the same steering column. I bought the truck new and it now has 550,000 miles on it. The steering wheel rattles at low idle. The problem on mine is the actual steering assembly where the wheel is. The assembly is $1000.00. I am going to take it apart and shim the bearings in the column. That should do the trick. You have to remove the steering wheel to get to the bearing housing.
