does it start with 3 batteries?

Do you need more reserve power for a frig or anything like that?

there's no reason you can't so long as you keep them in parallel.

I now use 4 batteries, no extras other than standard truck equipment. I find truck starts better, starters last longer,as do alternators. Batteries are 6 years old and are just fine.
Used to run 3, then was told 4 would do a better job. Have to agree.

I would have at least 4 if you are OTR. It's just added reserve the more you have.

4 batts would help the start 3 batt systems use starts about twice as fast as a 4 batt the extra amps you gain makes a big diffenece. plus if you add things like tv fridge microwave laptop phone charger and what ever else you like having the extra power helps...

i only have a 3 batt box in my freight. I think 4 would do much better. but my hands are kinda tied with it unless i want to add another box or change the box iv already got on the truck. If i had room for more batts i would be adding them. when its low teens out i have to throw jumper cables on to get it fired up. if it has not been plugged in. the other truck i drive has 4 and it will start when the freight wont. when i start using my freightliner on a more consistent basis i see this being a problem with using the inverter ect. ill try replacing my 3 year old battery's with the highest cca bats i can fit in there before i try adding more bats though. i have thought of adding another two battery's in there own box and using a motor home isolator and running inverter and such off them but i have read of issues with over charging the starting baterys with that setup. 3 bats seem to pretty much need everything they can give in cold starts.

good idea to havew separate batteries for sleeper. Not used to start but for bunk heater, stereo, TV, fridge... it is a way to avoid starter battery drain

All of ours came with 3 700 CA batteries and room for 4. If you have 3 700's, you can change to 3 1000's. 3 1000's gives more cranking amps than 4 700's. Our trucks have an electric back up hydraulic system, so we switched to 1000's and added the 4th. On the hydraulic motor, we added a thermo/low voltage protection switch. If the motor gets too hot, or voltage drops to low, it cuts power to the electric motor and beeps, telling the driver to start the truck and charge the batteries. That system works really good, it keeps the electric motor from draining the batteries to a point where the engine wont start.

I like the idea of at least 4, it gives you a much better chance of starting if one goes bad, plus a battery is cheaper than a service call.
