Then there is always just getting a crate rebuild from Detroit and doing the "plug and play" thing. Yank one engine out, throw the other in and take off. The entire engine is rebuilt. No piece meal of items. That way you have a factory rebuild, a 300,000 mile warranty, etc. And with a series 60, you might actually be able to get a DDEC IV pre-egr version and still use yours for the core exchange and avoid all the emissions stuff. Of course to do that, you would have to get a non Detroit shop to do the engine switch in the truck. No Detroit shop is going to put in an engine that doesn't meet the EPA stuff for the year of your truck, gliders excepted.

Have you gotten a price on that crate motor?? -
I paid $17K after core for a factory rebuilt crate 500 hp Series 60 DDEC IV last August. I am sure price jumped a little. 3 yr/300,000 mile warranty. You can extend that.
