I have an air leak behind the center portion.
Anybody know the procedure for disassembling the dash components?

Aren't there just 8 or so screws in it ? Need an allen wrench, I think.
-
That's the method I used.
I plan to put everything back to together with duct tape. -
That takes the front panel loose, but the air leak is deep inside somewhere.
I just ripped everything apart, bustin' whatever busted.
It's an old truck, with road rash all over it... all go-no show.
I don't care if it looks funky as long as it does the job.
The air leak has to go, and it's a tough one to find. -
I had a brass fitting that was cracked in there once. OEM fitting attached to an aluminum manifold.
Could be a vent flapper door piston. -
I found the problem using an incense stick. I moved it around and watched the smoke. I didn't notice any movement of air anywhere.
Finally I put the end of the stick near the window switch. Instead of the smoke being blown by air coming out of the switch, the smoke was sucked into the switch. I have no idea what is causing that. That is where the hissing is coming from, however. Air is hissing in instead of hissing out.
It's a very slow leak, not enough to create a hazard but enough to be clearly heard. For the time being, until I can figure out what's happening, I packed a rag around the back of the switch... silence!
The main thing I was worried about was getting inspected and having the inspector hear the air hissing.
