i have a 2003 columbia with a maxed out 430 horsepower 60 series. i want more juice but want to avoid a pdi tune. could i take a ecm from a wrecker yard thats rated at 500 horse and put it in mine? would it have to be out of a 2003? and more importantly can my engine handle it. shop forman at the local freightliner dealership said the injectors and turbos should all be the same between the different h.p. rated 60 series but i dont know if thats true.
thanks for your input
60 series ecm swap from higher horse engine????

I would suggest you contact Rebel127 here and he will hook you up the RIGHT way to get this done.
Likely he can just tweak the computer you have and make it run right.
Yes, he did my engine as well so I am a VERY satisfied costumer of his too. -
Many things need to be looked at, the hard parts of the engine are one of them, the clutch, transmission, drive lines, the rear gears, axles, radiator, all are things that will need to be looked at.
A Detroit dealer can give you the print out of hard part needed to change in the motor from the model and serial number of both units.
Just a thought! -
the truck is a heavy spec truck. clutch, tranny, driveline and rears will not be my issue...... ill check the rad. -
Detroit's can be made to pull or outpull cats in about 25mins with the right hardware and knowhow
-
what year are engines? do not mix up 12.7 and 14L ECMs

You are better off having someone tune your current ecm.
Unless you can get an ecm with all the same exact components for injectors etc. -

Forget buying ECM , get the tune, rebel helped me out and I'm in Australia , u will be happy dealing with him and the results he can give.
