Ive had good luck with Mac, Craftsman, Westward, SK and Mastercraft. I once broke 3 T-55 bits on my ford van and bought a Lysle Super-Bit. That one never broke but I've never seen a T-55 on a Freightliner.

Usually hand tools, on trl lights, abs components, engine components, interior parts, etc. Even when they work, torx doesn't offer the end user any advantages over allenhead, phillips head, hex head etc. There's an old saying, "It's like beating a dumb dog", ya don't accomplish anything other than wearing yourself out. You think they're great. I know they're not, think I'll just leave it at that.

I've stripped plenty of Phillips heads. Never a Torx.

Everything on the dash is put together with threadlocker. You destroy the dashboard if you don't break the tool. The torx fasteners holding the steps on get totally corroded, I've broken OTC & Mac impact sockets on them. They are a die grinder/cutting torch project. The whole truck is a poorly designed POS, the abundance of torx fasteners is only one symptom.

I just pulled my dashboard apart to replace a few gauges. No broken plastic, no stripped screw holes or screw heads. Everything came apart easily and went back together the same way. This 8 year old, 800, 000 mile truck is as tight as the day I drove it off the lot.
I really have no idea why people rag on Columbias so much.Last edited: May 1, 2013
