Im not putting anybody down. I wouldnt count on caps that I didnt know the full history of. I usually cap my steer casings but if I run.short I will buy new drives thencap them when the time comes

I can't count on my steer casings either. Of the three I have bought in the last year, two of them are bad. I have 6000 miles on one that started to show feathering already and that's AFTER a 3-axle alignment. Kingpins were done last August and bearings were at the same time. Next week, it's getting looked over for a bent front axle and a bent rim.

Thats scary if you cant count on your steer tires:-0. Check the shocks out too. That will cause feather wear.

Something is pretty badly wrong if youre only getting 6k on a steer before that happens. Im suprised whoever did the alignment didnt catch whatever it is. Just an idea but check the bushings on the torgue arms locating the rearend( the ones running paralell to the frame. If those go bad a stationary alignment winn check out perfect but the truck will try to drag the steers sideways when you apply power or braking.

there's a LOT of things that are going to be checked out. Torque rods go side to side though not parallel. I did notice this weekend they are rather weather checked. I may just stick a new set on and be done with it. It's a 6 year old truck with 790K miles now.

Im talking the ones that locate the axel fore and aft. There is definitly something wrong with the steers doing that in just 6k miles. Good luck with finding it. It will save a lot of $ on tires

Ya know, alignment guys can and do screw-up a three-axle alignment. I'd be suspicious of anyone who had to do anything but minor adjustments on a truck that was previously tracking straight down the road and didn't have any odd tire wear. Especially anyone who claims they need to "bend" something to get it right.

The guys with the computer alignment machines have an awful lot of tolerance to play with. Bringing something back to "factory spec" basically means close enough that a factory worker can get it there in about 5 minutes on an assembly line. That doesn't mean you have a proper alignment.

these guys have never "bent" anything. The service manager did the first alignment in Aug. The Tech that assisted him in Aug did the alignment in May this year.

With that in mind, the last conversation I had with him is that they have had such issues with the Dunlop SP384 steers, they have stopped selling them entirely lately. When I go in this week, the Dunlops are coming off and the goodyear G399 is going to replace it.

Things that I have had on the truck related to suspension. New kingpins installed in Aug. Cracked frame rail in Feb.

As I said, this weekend, I was inspecting things and noticed some rather weather-checked torque rods. Are they bad? I would suspect they are getting there. But the bushings aren't "gone"

With the new tune, It's now running 2050 torque compared to 1650 when I bought it. How much is that going to matter to the alignment?

Is your clutch rated for the higher torque? How about the rest of the driveline?
