Any recommendations on getting rid of brake squeal when the pedal is pushed down firmly? With enough distance, I can feather the brakes and stop the truck without the squeal, but any firm pressure on the pedal brings on the noise. The truck went through the maintenance shop less than a month ago, so the pads are good. Also, while the brakes work adequately, they don't seem to be as powerful under a load as in other trucks that I have driven. Thanks for your feedback!

    Company truck or your own?
If a company truck, about all you can do is spray the drums and shoes (not pads) down with liberal amounts of brake cleaner, and check for any leaking wheel seals.
If it's yours, do the same, but then also make sure the slack adjusters are doing their deal. I adjust my own to fully tight, then 1/4 turn backed off.
If the shoes/drums are not contaminated and are clean, and the adjusters are doing their thing, then it needs to go to a shop that can measure the pressure reaching each brake chamber.
