I am getting a odder coming from my pipes on each side not coming from the batteries and it smells like a rotten egg. the truck is a classic xl with a 550 cat c-15 15.2L. only thing I can think of is its picked up some kind of smell from the paper mills in my air canisters and or its the oil I run and I don't think that's the case b/c its that Lucas cj-4 oil all I run with cat filter. on top of that my air filters are only a mth and half old.

LMAO at your question. Did he have TA or Petro earlier too? Or some of those hard boiled eggs up front by the fuel desk at Flying J?

Trucks don't have a catalytic converter.. The closest thing the newer trucks have are egr valves and the catalyst burner thing...But he has a cat which has none of that stuff they decided to stop making motors for highway trucks because the fascist in Washington regulated them out of the industry..

BTW where is the smell coming from the vents or the pipe? If it is coming from the vent see if that truck has a cabin air filter..

Lordy, so much incorrect information in a single post.
Cat did indeed have DPF filters (catalyst burner thing as you call it).
Cat got out of truck engines for on road in the USA due to them not being able to figure out the emission stuff needed to meet the new regulations and keep a modicum of reliability. Class action law suits ring a bell? If not, look it up.
The DPF equipped Cat motors are some of THE worse motors on the road reliability wise. We just sold a 4 axle that had even a new engine block, as well as everything that was bolted to it and inside it. Guess the year?
That is why they got out of it, not because of the "fascist in Washington regulated them out of the industry". Funny how Detroit, Cummins, etc, are still making engines, all while conforming to the same regulations......
BTW, our biggest customer has been Cat for a few decades now, so may have a little more knowledge than the internet garbage going around.

Sulfur is what usually causes that smell. Don't know how it could be that since we have ULSD now tho.

The only two things that I'm aware of that can cause a rotten egg odor is a clogged cat. converter in gasoline engines, not sure about diesels, and algae growing in the fuel tanks.
