I'm having some SERIOUS power issues with my 07 Century with a detroit 14L... the thing has NO POWER @ ALL BELOW 1400rpm, then @ 1400 it absolutely EXPLODES FORWARD!!! Have had the truck for 1 year, and done basically EVERYTHING, lots o' money invested, yet to see any change. I have replaced the following:
_New TURBO, EGR valve, EGR cooler, V-pod valve, EGR and V-pod harness, 6 new injectors, injectors harness, fuel pump, head adjustment, ALL sensors, compressor, clutch, transmission, computer flashed 5 times... and NO RESULTS! Freightliner & Detroit can't find it... don't know what to do anymore, thinking of calling the bank to come pick it up, UNLESS... SOMEONE out there has any suggestions and can help me, I'd truly appreciate it...
THANK YOU!

thats a odd one just wondering if they checked the timing on the cam when they did the overhead and do you have a computer to see if the tps is working as it should
-
You really did invest a lot of money in that truck, i sure hope you find a problem and fix it.... Maybe it doesn't get enough air at low RPMs and i see u changed your fuel pump... Good luck
-
Hey Jameslawton, thanx for the feedback. Yes the cam timing was checked but, WHAT is the TPS???

Try the boost sensor you could have gotten a bad one. mine did same thing replaced boost sensor pulls down low again. I did ohm measure one that was working and it came out at 2.16ohm might give you a reference point to start with. The quality of parts these days is junk when 3/4 of them are made in mexico or china. Went thru 3 sets of points on old jd tractor just to get one set that finally worked.
RERM Thanks this. -
tps is throttle position sensor works like a variable rheostat. tells ecm how much fuel to apply according to how far you push fooot throttle down have been known to get bad spots in them just like fuel sending units do.

Best way to test the tps foot sensor is with a scope or a digital safe analog meter. You're watching for a dip in the needle as you sweep the tps.
You can do similar with the turbo sensor applying air pressure to it. -
Shovel98, the boost sensor... is that the delta sensor??? ALL THE SENSORS have been replaced, and since freightliner has checked everything again & again, they can't find anything. the tps sensor is new! Lot of codes and abreviation... not sure what ohm stands for ?!?!...

The ONLY thing I've done that showed HUGE, FANTASTIC difference was replacing the v-pod valve, the truck was UNBELIVEABLE after that, power EVERYWHERE. BUT... it only lasted for a couple of hours, made a 2hr trip, shut the truck off to get loaded. After starting again, that awesome power was GONE! Checked the v-pod @ freightliner and detroit and was told it was working properly, so they would NOT replace it under warranty, and those are very expensive to just go replacing... $480.00
