Low oil pressure cat engine 3406b

Never over look the simple stuff for sure, I have seen low oil pressure due to no oil. Lots of folks think proper diagnosis and correction of a problem is not worth the 65 bucks an hour we get. Then they end up on the internet in search of answers. But some day they will patent mechanic in a can or insta fix and ill be screwed.

 

My '96 (rolled off the line in Sept. '95) came with 8PN C. At that time most of the CATs were 435 E in the new trucks.

Anyway the oil pump is the same no matter. Shim the spring or get the higher pressure pump from CAT made for the double oilers. ---- That's if you don't feel like checking bearing clearances first.

 

There again read the entire post, it was overhauled with a new oil pump problem still exist so another new pump more volume or not shiming the spring is only gonna increase the leak. I have seen top rod bearings wore so bad the oil pressure go to 0 at warm idle a bottom end oughta fix this but let's say just for fun the crank been turned 10 10 problem still gonna be there if standard bearings were installed. The odds of this are slim yes. If the problem was there prior to overhaul throwing parts at it that already been replaced are only wasting money, there is internal leakage that gotta be found I belive I'd bust it off with valve covers off see if its in the top if not well you know the rest of the story
