No check engine light

Cannot get Check Engine light to light, all other lights will work with digital led probe? Bad module? Problem is engine runs 10minutes then dies, starts up runs 15 seconds dies, starts back up runs 5 seconds, won't start for maybe a minute or so. Any ideas?

1998 freightiner 3406 cat engine

 

Its a Freightliner 3406 cat engine...supposed to use the cruise control to check codes but no light. I took the light module out and can make all the other lights work with my probe but the CE light will not come on...shouldn't it come on when key first turned on?

Thanks, I backtracked to the computer and it is trying to tell the light to light (adding ground circuit) and I can read a 55 at the light board with my Digital LED probe...I am thinking bad board, but why the dieing?
