I need to tear out my old SMELLY carpet. It has some ''black mold'' forming from years of water and walking on it..Not to mention water spills and coffee spills...I started to smell that ''mold'' and ''mildew'' smell and it has to go...I own a 1998 freightliner classic..

I am looking for a cheap way out of this.I looked on e-bay and they sell a fitted carpet for 88.00 for my truck..I will need something to put underneath for ''sound''...I do not have a show truck so if i can even get something from home depot, that would be great...

I really want a rubber floor.Last i seen a fitted rubber floor for the classic was like 700.00...CRAZY...

    Any input would be helpful....Thanks

In the past I would remove the carpet as intact as possible to use as a pattern , then take it to a flooring store ( 1 that also makes scatter mats / runners ) have then cut a carpet piece ( lots to pick from ) the same pattern then stitch the edges so it would not fray or unravel.

Low cost custom fit carpet ,

Some high density foam should work for noise. You might even consider some high density foam insulation to keep heat out as well.

DynoMat works great for sound and temperature insulation!

Don't use foam, use Dynomat or something like it with some heat insulation - it makes a big difference.

You can look for rubber floors in truck junk yards, I've gotten a couple of them for my trucks out of a local yard, replacing one old cut up mat and one set of after market carpets. They were not perfect but they did the job and they were less than a hundred for both.

I went to depot and bought out door carpet remnants and used a product called window wrap ( sticky rubber with foil on one side ) for backing.

In the prep I bought a can of bed liner stuff and used that for gaps and joints like around the shift boot. ( a typical hot spot )

Took a half day because I'm picky and looks good / works good. New carpet for my dog is $180 on Ebay +/-

When I put wood floors in my Star, I used the click together foam flooring mat you can buy at Harbor Freight or Home Depot. BJ's even sells it. Cut to fit and it works great. Northern Tool has 8x10 rubber mats for around $100 to go on top of the foam. A few cans of spray adhesive and a razor knife and your good to go.
