I just found a video... This is very confusing, you need a darn class for this darn regen etc..

Park, idle to bring engine/exhaust temp up to running temp (10-15 minutes), hold in the regen button (4+ seconds) and follow the advice already posted. This is called a "parked regen". Like the poster said....be on asphalt or concrete as the temps underneath will climb over 800*. If the unit will not go into "regen" you need to get it to a shop.

the truck has 500k miles on it. Take it to an engine service shop for detroit, not a dealer, and get a quote on replacing the 'After-treatment Injector' and to have the 'D.O.C. / D.P.F.' cleaned. Should cost you a few hundred for the DOC/DPF, and a few hundred more for the After-treatment injector.

These expenses are typical of a truck with 500k miles on it, and it is also very typical to get the problems you are having. Many repair shops will take care of the DOC/DPF thing, but will ignore the after-treatment injector, sometimes purposefully, to keep you comming back to them.

Ok, so lets really really take this down a few steps for you. The symbols that are being shown on your visor and flashing on your dash, are labeled as EXHAUST componants... So why would you ask if the air filter was the DPF?

Im not trying to be mean, but youre an owner operator...you NEED to know the differences between the componants of your truck, otherwise your gonna pay a sheet ton of money for an airfilter....

And if the "parked regen" does not clear out the code (which is also the flashing light) then you will need to head to a shop ASAP otherwise your truck will derate and youll be crawling to a shop.

Driver, I'm a student driver got my license 1 month ago, new to this line of work. I'm trying very hard to figure it out, in honesty this is confusing. I'm following the directions and it worked it went away. It'll come on once in a while. But this time it was flashing and it's clear...there's so many controls on here that I'm not familiar with. I didn't mean to post idiotic questions and replies. Never mind ill ask around take it in to the shop. I had bad luck this weekend my 3rd run got stuck here in PA at PETRO for the weekend , they changed my oil this morning, I park it and hang out at the lounge , I go back to my truck and next thing my AC isn't working. I located the leak
took it back in to the shop they said I have to replace the front condenser coil, they can't repair the small leak, they have to swap coils, with labor and vacume and charging unit they want 989$ I said no. Lousy weekend.

    Thanks

$989 for a new condensor and labor sounds way high. Don't get anything fixed at a truckstop. Ever. Find a dealer if you must, but not a truckstop

Once again, not to sound mean or unwelcoming... But, these sentences are what i was basing my assumption of you being an O/O off of. Perhaps i read it wrong? But i do believe that this would mark the first time Ive ever heard of a "student driver o/o....

Either way, get to know your truck, hang over the shoulder of the mechanic/technician that is doing work on your truck, ask questions, and take in all the information that you can stomach, puke, then take in more information.
Speak to other drivers when you stop for the night, read the owners manual online... If you want to be/are a o/o then you're going to have to eat/sleep/breathe your truck... Diesel should run through your viens and fifth wheel grease should be what holds your hair in place.

Bad luck, and bad weekends happen to everyone, you are far from being alone there, but just remember two things; someone somewhere has had worse days, and bad luck is just good luck waiting to happen...

One more point, theres a fine line between knowing enough to fix an issue yourself, and knowing enough to get yourself in trouble...

The knee jerk reaction to "just take it to a shop" should be second guessed at times, something as easy as a blown fuse and $10 can easily become $200...never be afraid to ask questions. Done let our knee jerk reactions scare you off.
