Have you checked the coolant level? The coolant sensor is prone to leaking after a few years. If the coolant drops below the sensor, you will have the check engine and stop engine lights come on and shut the engine down within 60 seconds. You should have an override switch on your dash to keep the truck running, though you will have to keep hitting the override switch every 1-2 minutes. Check and see if the coolant level is at or near the level that the coolant sensor plugs into the reservoir. If the coolant level is not dropping below the sensor level, the coolant is leaking out through the sensor. If the coolant has dropped well below the sensor, you may have a crack in the coolant reservoir.

Some facts from dealing with a friends DDEC VI motor in a 2009 Crapcadia...
Replaced turbo due to actuator throwing codes. I say run with it, he got it swapped.
More wiring problems than anything else. The engine wiring harness is crap, and either shorts out or loses connections on a near monthly basis.
Has had turbo speed sensor wiring repaired and God knows what else, and the last thing was a sensor at the DPF filter. New harness is @$600, and can be installed DIY.
The turbo "coughing" seems to be a common thing with DDEC VI Series 60's. It keeps spooling at gear changes, and dumps the compressed air into the air filters, and makes the coughing sound between downshifts etc.
If it idles, the DPF filter may be getting to it's serviceable limit. The DPF has a timer on its own ecm basically. Detroit recommend just over 400k miles IIRC. Check to see if it was cleaned etc. Exchange they are @$800.
The injector from the doser block needs to be cleaned pretty regularly, to allow it to regen properly. I just did mine (77k miles, low idle time) and it was indeed sooted up. Remove the fuel line carefully, remove the injector. I half filled a lid from a tin of brake cleaner and gave it a bath in brake cleaner. Cleaned right up. 12mm and 14mm wrenches, and takes 2 minutes to remove.
Go into a GOOD Detroit shop and look over all the parameters and settings in the ecm. Not a lot should be shutting it down, unless it was messed with by an idiot tech in a company shop. Low coolant is the number one thing that should be shutting it down. Get the codes read and see what it says. The coolant bottle in my Western Star will only stay half full basically. Anything else and it spits it out. Stays at that level though, so it's fine.
There are some suggestions from my experiences with these engines. It needs to go to a GOOD Detroit shop, and they will make it 100 times better.
Cylinder balance and cutout tests, put it into regen and watch the back pressure for being at 4psi or above, dyno it.

What program can be used to check the ecm?
I have a mechanic friend and his got dddl but I'm not sure if he can change parameters with just DDDL

I took my truck in for diagnostics Because there are weird sounds coming from the turbo and the engine
I told them my turbo should be making only whisling sounds not scritching cracking popping coughing black smoke
So after 3 days I get a call saying that they found no problem but one of my injectors is overfueling but prior to leaving my truck I had asked one of the tecks to check for injector problems he tried 3 times and said all normal but since I have werrenty on my turbo they don't want to change it but blame it on my over fueling injector
I was angry I asked to speak to the manager he said sir if you want us to change the turbo u must pay $3000+ because we don't see any problem with the turbo I asked why is it that when I was here 3 days ago and asked one of the technicians to hook it up to the computer and tested all cylinder cutout all came out normal and passed I was next to him while he was doing the test

DDDL will do all the tests, and read data from the regen etc.

I spoke to someone today and he assured me that there must be some parameter on the ecm of this truck that is effecting its torque like when I bought this truck it was from a big fleet and when they place orders they want the trucks to work certain way with certain parameters that's how he explained it but is that even possible ?

There are 3 power settings in DDEC VI IIRC. You want the one at the top of the three, which is 515 all the time. Torque may be limited in upper or lower gears I guess, never seen that setting myself.

My experience with Freightliner has been their warranties are worth crap!! If there is any type of engine related problem on a Detroit Diesel engine you are much better off to go to a Detroit Diesel shop. Better service and workmanship. They will also take care of warranty issues.

My truck is doing the same thing right now, it's only happened one other time to me and our mechanic told me to pin the ovrd shutdown switch until I get back. Gauges look normal. These things are piles.

Check the coolant sensor open and clean the sensor. Or replace it. It happened to my 2010. I replaced it that light is gone for goog..
