these injectors are suppose to carry a 2 year warranty from detroit just dont know how to find out if they were ever put in. will try your suggestion thanks alot. my biggest question is will it damage the engine to drive until we figure it out and earn some more money to check the things you told us. we asked freightliner if the injectors have to be calibrated to the ecm and was told no. it seems to be running alot worse since the injector harness and they guy changing #5 injector with a new one and then said it didnt make a difference so he put our old one back in. it was smelling like alot of raw diesel but not so much since this last guy worked on it. it smokes white and black now and it seems to be missing more but it clears up and doesnt miss at certain rpms. if we kick it up to high idle it would stop smoking aliitle

the real sad thing is i forgot to mention that they had 5 different mechanics on the truck not just one at freightliner and still couldn't fix it right. thanks for your help I will check for air and see what we come up with. the reason we changed the check valve is we were having trouble starting it in the winter and the after that it blew the line behind the check valve that mount on top of transmission. at that time it only smoked alittle when you first started it and then would clear up.

well GrapeApe thanks for your advise i don't mean to sound like i don't know anything just want to be clear . but when you say to take the return line off the back of the head do you mean disconnect it from the back of the head or before the check valve and put it in the bucket of fuel. after i do that do i reconnect that line before i check the one from the pump or leave them both in a bucket of fuel. just want to make sure i'm doing it right. do you think the espar we had installed could be letting air into the tanks where it bolts on top of the tank.

we did what you said and the bubbles stopped after we ran it from a bucket to the pump. What would be our next step? the only fuel line we haven't changed is the one from the top of transmission where it goes into a T, or fitting and connects to the secondary filter. could it be in the pickup pump or as simple as the fuel cap. the one on the drivers side acts looose compared to the new one we just put on the passengers side.
