my 2000 Freightliner FLD cut off with no warning while I was driving down the road. I tried to crank it, but it wouldn't. I waited about 5 minuties and tried again it turned over but wouldn't crank. The fuel filter is new. I would appreciated any input.

Check your grounds? Are your bat cables loose?
needtoknownow Thanks this. -
More than likely an electrical problem. Start checking wires, cables, battery connection.

scottied67 Thanks this. -
be helpful if you tell us where. I have the same problem now looking all over but did not see anything.
Thx -
I have a 2001 FHRT century with a detroit S60, I looked all over for a loose wire, can't see anything. While driving, some time check engine light comes on and it goes out right away, is doing that for 2-3 times and then is fine for a while. Today I could not start it until I took the ECU fuse of and put it back on.
Any advice? please -
A flashing CEL is an intermittent code. You need to pull the codes to find the problem. If the truck is shutting down then most likely you have an issue related to your fluids. Whether it be low on a coolant/oil or the sensor or harness to it is bad.
Never over ride a shutdown because it could be serious and you can blow the motor up. That's why the ECM protects you. You only override the ECM to get off the highway. -
I'm not sure of your model but older one's you turn the key on and hold the override button in. Count the flashes on the CEL it will be two digits. Flash, flash, pause, flash flash, flash is code 23 and so forth.
The next model has a display screen, you press the right arrow once followed by pushing the down arrow three times to display the codes. Then push the right arrow again to scroll through the codes.
The next model has a self test every time you turn the key on and displays active codes where the odometer is at.
See if you can find the code(s). -
You have 2 sensors (I think one is crankshaft sensor) on the block engine ,left side front close to air compressor ,take off the sensors and clean them.
