I bought a 98` fld, it has a cummins m11, my first truck its a good , truck. I bought the truck from a friend, before buying the he informed me that the a/c works good which it does but what it does do is that all off a sudden it stops blowing cold , and just blows air. My friend would tap the clutch on compressor and it kicks in and blows cold air again or if u turn off the a/c wait like 10 or 15 minutes then turn it back on it also works. What could this issue be , could be like a relay getting hot and when it cools down it starts working again or could replacing the clutch be the fix can someone help.

is water running out drain hose when U turn off comp. after it blows hot. if it is a York comp. its a easy clutch change over.

Could also be a bad freeze switch maybe? There's a sensor / switch in the HVAC unit near the evaporator, and it has a temp. probe that monitors the temp at the evaporator to make sure it's not freezing up. It'll cut out the compressor at random intervals whenever it thinks the unit is beginning to freeze up. Does it blow REALLY COLD then gets warm? Might check that.

hard to tell how cold it's blowing. being as it's already cold outside.

put gauges on the system and see what it reads. it don't need to be running. with temps this cold. your not going to get accurate readings anyways. but staying off. you should have around 110 psi. 100 minimum.

    my system reads 112 psi.

with it shut off. pressure is equalized so your going to have the same reading on both hi and low.

if your pressure is lower then 90. you're starting to get on the low side and won't have much coldness come summer time.
