Turbo brake is too expennive thing and when it fails we use to install simple exaust flap brake. Of course less braking efficiency, but more reliable

We use to swap turbos with Schwizer, really the cheapest turbo from salvage yard.

My turbo brake lasted 1,036,000 KM and then the pivot bushings wore out and it would get stuck in the on position. Since I had extended warranty and a great relationship with Detroit, I was given the whole assembly complete with turbo, but I wonder if the bushings could have been fixed.

The turbo brake is expensive but if you compared a VGTurbo and jake heads for a different engine, I doubt there would be much difference. AND the EGR MBE used a simple turbo so there were very few failures compared to EGR Cummins or Detroit

the really good engine is Series 60 12.7 w/o EGR, but Mercedes engine w/o EGR is reliable like AK47.

Problems with headgaskets are really easy to solve with Victor Reinz)))) And... high tempearature germetic around water passages

eeeh, I'd like to have a 6" cannon home))) for self defense)

really well lubricated mashines may sit for long time and work well. I saw Panter tank found in forest. Truck towed it! it rolls after 70 years

I used to shoot PPS of 1944, and German MP-40! for fun))) LOL, but old weapon works.

I wonder, 50 years later will this Mercedes run?
