I have a 2010 freightliner Columbia. How many miles should I get on both tanks being full. And how far can I get when it just starts showing on empty? Cause I no when it shows empty I have went 50 miles. Just didn't no how far I could go.

Tonyb229able Thanks this. -
Lol. We'll I had a 1998 fld. And that truck went 140 miles and ran out. This is newer truck and didn't no if is was better or worse on that part. But thanks for your answer

Depends on your fuel gauge. Some times the float will drop showing mty and you still have maybe 20 gallons you can use.
Some fuel gauges are not real actruite. Best thing to do is when it shows a 1/4 tank go get fuel.
Try not pushing your luck. Also weight of the load and roads, like pulling hills or winds will drop it in a hurry.. -
You didn't give enough info for a better answe.
How big are your Tanks and what's the EXACT Fuel mileage.
Pen/Paper MPG. (there are Smart Phone Apps that willddo it for you also )
Not ECM or Qualcomm or People net mpg.
Me personally I don't like letting it get very low. -
The ones on the Cascadia work real well, and it even has a light that comes on a 1/8 to 3/16ths.
It depends on how big the tanks are(how much fuel you start with), and how many miles per gallon, which can vary some.
A bar that will reach the bottom of the tank, through the filler opening, can be used to check, and also to make sure the Equi-flo is working right, making sure the tanks are even when running and parked on the level.
2 identical Columbias, mine would go 300 miles on empty, the other never would have gotten to MT. I learned to look into the tanks for awhile when running a different truck.Tonyb229able Thanks this. -
Thanks guys. They are twin 100 gallons tanks. And as far as fuel mileage goes it differs. Depending on my load. Around 7.5 to 8 mpg.

driving in winter time, you will never know when you might be sitting on road for many days at any time, best to keep tanks as full as poss.

i often can go 1000 miles on a fuel up, i don't let the gauge get below 1/8th of a tank though normally fill at 1/4
Tonyb229able Thanks this.
