    Me I would go with the Detroit, in fact I did. They get better fuel mileage, and much cheaper to work on. Cat in-frame $ 15,000 Detroit in- frame $ 6,000.

    Now you said you are buying it to put a driver on, not a good idea with an older truck that you know nothing about. A "DRIVER" will not baby it like you would if you were driving it.

    If it was me I would look into leasing a truck, if it breaks down they fix it, and it will be new enough to go to the Left Coast.
