Hey guys, 2010 Cascadia I drive is loosing oil in the right front hub. Maintenance pulled it apart and said the wheel seals are not leaking. Hub can be filled to line on end of axle and 10 days later work itself down just barely touching the bottom of the axle. Left side is holding with no changes in levels. Maintenance's plan is to fill it and just drive it until something gives.
Any suggestions on where the oil is going if everything on the outside is dry as a bone? Thanks guys.
2010 Cascadia loosing wheel oil, but no signs of leaks...

you might want to look on the inside of wheel, were your brake shoes are.......................p.s. get ready to stop and pull your fire extinguisher out at any moment, and don't carry anything of value in the truck....................

Suggestion; find another mechanic. If it is losing oil, it has to be going someplace. Waiting until something gives, like the wheel falling off due to sudden catastrophic failure of the bearings is B.S.

there isn't much it can be besides a wheel seal or if the hub cap itself is leaking

It will start a fire and may burn the whole truck down, I've seen it happen with no oil, and NO it wasn't me...LOL!!

Or the bearing will heat up so much the axle nut will loosen and there goes your tire.. Seen it happen also with just the wrong weight oil

Shop had the whole wheel taken apart looking for signs of leakage including the removing the brakes. I do plan on being vigilant about making sure to keep the oil level up so we don't have to worry about having a marshmallow roast on the roadside. Thanks for the heads up though, but I know having low oil levels is very bad for the bearings and everything else. Just trying to get an explanation as to why it's happening when all surfaces around the seals are dry including the inspection plug.

Yea, I'm not trying to scare you, just thought it might help to let you know what could happen, Iv had a leaker on mine I drove for a little while recently.

Alaska76- Wish I could find another mechanic, but I'm "just a company driver" who cares about the equipment as if it were my own.
