Any who. Ran,the truck in normal EGR mode listened to the turbo whistle then sing like a canary, I think it's the EGR that is the issue so dropped off the truck at the shop spit out 770.00 for the valve and now I wait and see what happens.

Ya if the truck would run NORMAL then I could see a benefit to the tuner. changed the EGR valve. Still got that turbo spool to canary singing sound. May be the actuator? I have a spare one.

That's just the sound a s60 makes. The noise that the egr makes is the loud jet engine sound from the passenger side. Do you have a boost gauge? If it's a factory one then it's reading the boost on the turbo side. What you need is a mechanical one on the intake side. Easy to install nothing fancy just a AN fitting an a small tubing ran to cab no need for the lights wired in unless your gonna keep it in for awhile. There is a spot on the intake for. It's located on the top of front side just as the intake starts an the air charger pipe ends. Get a good idea what the actual intake boost pressure is before swapping actuators. There is gonna be a difference from turbo side to intake but how much is gonna help a lot with diagnostics.

I don't know about it being the "normal" sound. I get the jet engine and all that. A couple years back I had rented a few Columbia's with 14L in them and they all sounded way different then this one does(with baro sensor hooked up normally). When my ugly fix Charlotte was acting up because of the wiring the CE would come on and the boost pressure gauge in the truck would drop down to zero and the truck started to sound like a canary until it would kick off and run. It almost seems like it's backing it off for no reason. We unplugged the plug from the EGR before (which is why we came to the conclusion it was the EGR) and the turbo would spool like it's supposed to but overboost. I dunno. I think I'm just going to hook up the EGR cheat(delete) and go to a dealer and trade this truck in. Its just not making sense to me.

I say keep it, find a tuner, have him remove a couple of programs an swap the exhaust manifold an turbo. Make a scrap pile of the gumb mint bs an run the hell out it. Only if the head an bottom end are still good. Trading it off in today's used market there is no telling what your gonna get. Could be worst or better but you know what you have now, an a lot of guys will argue it but look what they can do with a pre egr 12.7. They made a non egr 14.0 so the parts are out there to build a monster if you wanted, or just build a medium power efficient truck. Just don't go to Cali with it.

I'm new here, but I just wanted to tell you about my 06 Coronado 60 Series 14L 13 spd 3.73 rear and 22.5 rubber. I've owned it since new and it's totally stock. Had the Detroit Step 2 rebuild at 812,500 miles. Has 250,000 miles on the rebuild now. I haul maxed out 80,000lbs from Hamilton ON to York and Allentown PA - lots of mountains. I'm limited (Ontario law) at 65mph and it runs 1425 rpm in top gear at that speed. It gets a steady 5.8mpg winter 6.2 mpg summer. When I used to run lighter weight loads midwest and south (Ontario to NC, IN, KY) it was getting 6.5/6.8 mpg. It pulls like a champ up the hills and I frequently find myself passing guys that can't possibly have as much weight on as me. Louder than snot when the fan is on but hey that's a Detroit for you. It's cheap to maintain and hasn't given me a single problem but I've run it totally factory for the whole 8 years I've had it. Hope that helps a bit for comparison.
