So, I purchased a used Freightliner with a MC11 in it. I had my mechanic check to see if it had a governor.....50 mph!!! Seriously??? So when I asked him to change it, he said "I can't it's password protected. I need help, and I need it fast!!! Truck is hauling its first load tomorrow from Henderson, NV to Albuquerque, NM....CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO TO FIX THIS???? OR at the very least advise a location where I might get this taken care of. Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!

A PDI dealer should be able to generate a new code and overwrite the old.

Thanks Joetro, it's a 1999 FLD120, with the Cummins M11. Does that matter?

It shouldn't. They may want proof that you have authorization to do it, though.

Okay, you wouldn't happen to know of any locations near Las Vegas, or along the I40 between Las Vegas and Albuquerque?

Didn't you take the truck for a test drive before you bought it?

I cant be sure & I hope someone will correct me if I am not right.

It may depend on who you bought it from &/or who owned the truck previously. I THINK If Ryder owned the truck, their software controls their password. Now, it could be that Freightliner would know the password but, If I aint wrong, Ryder (companies like that) put a password that is assigned by Ryder corporate & will only work with Ryder maintenance software. That is so you cant go to "Jim Bobs Diesel Repair" down the road & have him to turn it up or make other adjustments

I could be wrong but that is my understanding from the Ryder guys that I have talked to.

I also talked to a guy at Penski once too when the company I worked for, leased from both Ryder & Penski.

No, Bulldog, I bought it from an out of town dealer, and didn't think to ask that question....(live and learn)
