I'm not a mechanic, and can't solve your problem, but I wouldn't of taken it back to them the second time, let alone a third or fourth. Sounds like they are just changing parts and guessing. Find a better shop imo. Good luck
jeepnut_nh and cabwrecker Thank this. -
In this case, it's with his own truck! -
As for mine, I had a bad sensor on either the clutch or the brake pedal (I forgot which one) and after FL went through a couple of hours of trouble shooting, that wound up fixing my problem.
Have the mechanics tried this? I realize the truck in this post is a 2012, but it may be a quirk that's left over from previous years.

my 2012 Cascadia was a switch on the clutch pedal

Leaves me shaking my head. Check to see if there is electricity at the wire going into the head when you rev it up and then haul off the throttle.
If yes then problem is inside. If no then All they had to do is follow the darn wire. It has electricity or it does not. If not then check back down the wire to the switch. Check the fuses. I would be surprised if it was an ecm problem. -
Check the wires with a test meter and see if you have any contaunity to power or ground. The trucks wiring harnesses are known for bad wiring now a days with recycled copper wire. No big surprise.

If your truck has the variable vane turbo, check the Vpod.. The engine brake/jake utilizes the turbo to create back pressure..(shuts down the vanes)

These don't have that variable turbo.
Working when not turned on or not working are often electrical issue, and hard parts won't solve it.
Mine acted up a long time ago, but it seemed to cure itself. There was a change of what would work with the buttons in the wheel, the 2013 I have have the level on a rocker switch and simple on /off on the wheel. Earlier ones had more functions with the buttons on the wheel.
There should be an indicator light in the upper left side of the instrument housing, that will tell you if it is powered on or not.mhyn Thanks this. -
You need a tech that has DDDL7 software, have them look at the switches (clutch, Jake etc..) Once you press the clutch down you will see the light go from green to red. This will tell you if the clutch switch is working. Start there.
mhyn Thanks this.
