I have a Freightliner Cascadia with a Detroit Series 60 14L with about 750K miles, air compressor was replaced about 2 years ago and the air dryer done about 4 months ago. Air compressor will not build above 35-40 psi. I have replaced the air gov and by passed the air dryer and still not successful. I want to be sure the air compressor is the problem before I replace it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

CK. the air line out of comp. leadihg to 1st air tank, then small air line leadihg to tank out of side of gov. they will only leak with comp. trying to build air,
-
The primary discharge line is fairly new (about 4-6 months) but I will check it anyway. I will also look at the small line from the tank to the side of the gov. thank you

Just a ol dumb country boy way but if you pull line off compressor and can hold your thumb over it while its pumping then its the compressor. If not then as stated you have governor issues of some kind
-
it is usually the secondary discharge line.the primary is made from a braided, high temperature teflon line.the secondary is your standard, non braided type.problem is that it is joined behind engine and above transmission.you can't hear it leaking with engine idiling, let alone when you are rev'ing it up.good luck.

Found the problem, it was the compressor. Installed the Detroit Diesel air compressor, fired up the engine and psi was able to build right away.
Thanks for the ideas.
