Never happens when truck is cool or has set 30+ minutes. Been in shop 6 times. New clutch & clutch switch. Didn't help. Happens with no pattern. Only constant is we've been driving more than a couple of hours. Symptoms cannot be duplicated and everything checks out okay w/computer diagnostic. When it starts, it starts easily. Normally only stuck for 30-45 minutes. Today over 2 hours (so far). In Arizona - temp over 100°. Wonder if some component in ignition system is overheating. Mechanics can't figure it out. Need driver knowledge. Not sure if company will give us a new truck. Thanks!

How new is the clutch switch? When problem occurs does it turn over?

I drive a 2014 Cascadia. In prior trucks I used to press the clutch about 1/3rd of the way down when starting. On the new truck the clutch switch is located such that I must press the clutch clear to the floorboard. Therefore, I ask, are you pressing the clutch down far enough to engage the clutch switch?

I would have the mechanics check the over crank protector on the starter. It is not hard to jump around it to test if that is the problem or not.

    Mooose Thanks this.

When you say "no start" do you mean no crank or it cranks but won't fire? I assume no crank. Most likely the armature on the starter is pitting resulting in a poor contact with the brushes. Have a qualified tech conduct a voltage drop test across each connection in the starting circuit. If all good then I bet its the starter armature.

Have you try turning it off and on?

I'm jk but last time I had that problem(didn't even crack), took out good ol hammer and gently touch the starter, repeatedly, and it started.

I would ask the same question, does it crank but won't start? Does it not respond at all? Need more information, Have a tech look at the clutch switch using the DDDL7 software. It will show if the switch is working, if it cranks but doesn't start then there could be a fuel issue. Injector may lose prime, have the tech do a fuel run off test. And although this is NOT recommended, will it start with starting fluid?

Had a couple that had hot starter issues. When it doesn't turn over check for juice at the selonoid. Hot there then bad starter. If not, the harness plugs in about 3/4 way up the motor. Maybe corroded pins in the connector there. Warranty is no problem with either.

I'm having similar issues - had the clutch switch changed yesterday. This afternoon the problem returned. It seems like after it won't start if I just sit patiently (which is impossible - I am a truck driver after all) it will eventually start.
