My turbo is acting, some times works then stops. I may need a new turbo soon. Is there any options for less expensive turbo like the one on the old Detroit 12.7 ($500). I asked at Detroit Diesel, they quoted me around $2000 only for the part.
Columbia 2007 detroit 14 L turbo options?

No, you're stuck with it. They tend to make loud and weird noises when they are bad. I've seen it a few times already. Especially at idle, or taking off. You would need additional after market programming with a non VGT turbo, that is a no no to talk about.

thre is anohter option. found out wht the OEM turbo is, find one that is campareable and bolt it one, migh tbe cheaper than going to a Detroit dealer

if it is just cutting out you may just want to check the V-pod. I had the same issue and thats all it was a $200 part. Start with the smallest fix first
