I have a 1999 FLD with a CAT C12 and it has a very intermittent crank no start when warm. It has only happened twice in about 10k miles. When the truck is shut off and started again within 30min the engine cranks but will not start. After I let it sit for 10min or so it fires up. Anything easy I can check when the problem happens? It's so intermittent I don't think a shop will be able to duplicate the problem to do any diag.

Are you turning the key and starting it real fast? Some older trucks require the computer to get up and running

Just a guess, but maybe air is getting into fuel line/fuel filter sometime, so when you try to restart it, it's not getting fuel? This rings a bell in my head, like maybe my old w900 with cat c-15 550 used to do that, but rarely. Come to think of it, I do recall having to pump the primer pump a few times to get it started after fueling up and then trying to restart, so that is similar. Or maybe you just need to replace the fuel filters, like you got some bad fuel here or there. Worth a shot.

I was thinking about that last night, I think I was just turning the key and hitting the starter button.
