When I started my current company the cruise control flat out didn't work. Then one day, my ankle started bothering me and I grabbed a 1ft block of 6x6 wood and wedged it on the accelerator. Got into a town, had to deal with traffic took it off, delivered my load, then got back on the high way and tried the cruise control again, and it worked.
Now, a month later, after working miraculously, the cruise control will just disengage. I'd restart it, then it would disengage again. Now it just stopped working.
This is so strange. Any ideas or speculation on what could cause this?:smt119

Fl as some wird ishues. First off, always turn main cruse switch off when turning truck off. Start the truck with cruise off. If it fails to engage or disengages after starting, its probaly a sensor jamming up. Try hitting and reliceing the cluch, brake, and trailer brake. If it still wont stay on after resetting those 3 sensors, one of them is failing.
Pleas dont use wood to jam the peddle. That is quite dangerous because you cant turn the throttle off instantly if you need to brake. -
Tried lifting the brake pedal today with my left foot while trying to engage the cruise control. No go. I'll try again later this morning when I run a load into Miami.
