Hi folks, I have a DD15 2009 Cascadia and sometimes when I upshift gears I loose engine power.

The RPMs drop and sometimes the engine shuts down. When this happens I am able to go back into neutral and start the truck again and it works fine.

Sometimes the engine just looses power but then all of a sudden the RPMs go up on their own and everything starts working fine. Sometimes when I upshift gears I have no problems at all.

This happens up hill, down hill and on flat roads.

There are no engine lights or fault codes or anything. I have the engine brake off when changing gears. Cruise is off.

I took it to a mechanic and he changed the crankshaft sensor but that didn't help.

I would appreciate any help or ideas on what could be wrong.

    Thanks!

With engine running move engine harness around if it stalls you found your problem early cascadia's had brittle wiring on harness .. Mine didn't throw codes until harness got real bad it kept shutting down outta the blue and loosing power .. After awhile on slushy roads it would quit and throw different codes every time spent a lot of money till I broke down and a shop that knew of harness issue showed me how just by wiggling harness he could stall truck or make it sputter..this may not be your problem but it's easy to check

thanks magoo, will give it a shot in a day or 2 and let you know how it goes. im hoping that is the problem because mechanically the engine sounds fine. sometimes I don't even have the problem of the engine shutting down or losing power.

right now I have the DPF light on as well the check engine and engine stop light and it wont to a regen. checked the codes and they are all related to DPF system and soot levels....missing the days of no DPF

When you do a regen, does the engine surge real bad when the coolant temp is around 140 degrees? or will it not even initiate a regen at all?
