89 cabover 290 cummins I believe with 9 speed fuller transmission. Set with bad diesel drained lines, tanks replaced fuel filter new fuel. Truck starts but won't do more than an idle. Pump the foot feed nothing. Already tried automatic trannyfluid in fuel filter to lube pump still hasn't helped. Any ideas without buying a new pump?

I would suspect the linkage more than the pump.

Linkage is all intact. That was the first thing we checked.

Need to clean screen on top of pump, will look like a dome, that year should be a big flathead screw in middle, but could be a bolt. Next need to check fuel pressure.

I'm not the best Cummins mechanic, but it may be the aneroid valve in the pump is stuck. I think it gets pressure from the turbo signaling the pump to open, or something like that. One of my trucks sat a while, and would only idle, and I blew compressed air in the small line that goes in the back of the pump, (not too much, 20lbs., maybe) and she was smokin' again.

    062 Thanks this.

Also need to hook a fuel line up you know is good, put other end in bucket or tank,to make sure suction side not stopped up.

Hi 062, that too, I've seen fuel lines deteriorate from the inside and restrict flow.

Yea could be a lot of things,I like to knock out the simple stuff first. Always hate when I over think things, and turn a ten minute job in to two hours.
