    Howdy All,

My 2002 Columbia, has what is to me a very ugly dash, its a gray and black combination of some sort. I have looked through every custom truck web site I can find looking for a wood grain dash or vinyl decal type thing that could be applied to the stock dash and haven't been able to find anything for a Freightliner. This is one of those things a person doesn't need, I just want it, can anyone point me to a web site or shop that sells such an item? Just tryin to spruce up my truck a bit. Thanks.

    Dave

You could just apply some vinyl like is used on signs. Color match it to your cab color.

That's going to be something that's going to have to be custom done for your truck. You also have to figure out how long you plan to run that truck to figure out if its worth money to change the inside of it.

You can also check Simi salvage yards and see if you can find one that is around your year (with the upgraded Package) and just change the sucker out for cheaper then it would be to skin the dash.

I saw a guy with a 1926 show car and he had what appeared to be a custom wood grain dash. He said nope, he just painted it himself, said he Googled how to do custom painted wood grain and watched a bunch of videos and went to town....... it looked amazing.

Could get a carbon fiber done on it but the other options cheaper.

Rockwood may be able to fix you up. I know some of the Classics had a real wood dash as a factory option.

Any woodworker can make you a replacement. I am and it's easy. The hard part is taking ALL the gauges out and marking which wires go where and there are A LOT. It's not an easy or fun job. I could make oak, cherry or whatever wood I wanted in 1/2 a day to replace all the panels. You would have to take out the old ones as a reference.

I replaced all the gauges on the primary panel ( my columbia has the optional individual gauges) it took a couple of hours and was straight forward. They all run on the same harness so I was able to arrange them how I liked.

The panel is about 3/32" aluminum and while the gauges can accommodate a lager thickness, the dash design can't. It's all designed to bolt together with that 3/32" panel in- underneath the dashboard trim. It's not like an FLD/ Classic dashboard where the panels sit on top with mounting bolts showing.

I went on line for JC Whitney catalogue. It's expensive but the wood grain vynal body wrap is thicker than the drawer liner stuff, and for the curved parts of your dash, you just heat it up and the vynal melts to the curve. I just swiped it with a lighter. I've got a freightliner too and prefer Wood grain to chrome. But woodgrain accessories seem to be for pets or kw,s.

Makes me glad I got the Signature interior with woodgrain dash as part of my order on my Columbia.
