has anyone converted? I have 1996 FLD 120 with air accessories. I pulled the washer and installed an electric pump already, but the wipers are my concern now. the electric motors are completely different than the air motors (even the brackets are different). so, even without the wiring, it looks to be quite a challenge. im just wondering if its really worth it and just how bad it is.
if anyone knows of any actual conversion kits, that would be great too. I know they make them for Pete and KW, but didn't see anything for Freight Shakers
notice the difference:

FLD wiper conversion (air to electric)

First I have to say I have not done this or know the trucks but think of this as a bump for other to see.
With that said where the 2 are placed on the truck, fire wall? Are they the same angle on each truck?
The air looks to have 4 screws that hold the bracket to the truck that holds the motor do they go thru the fire wall? I see a drag link from the drivers side arm to the passenger side on the air setup how is the elect. Done as I dont see a drag link in the picture.
The elect. Bracket looks to have 2 screws with stand offs that I see to hold the bracket to the fire wall are there more screws to hold it to the fire wall? Also how does the other arm move as I dont see a drag link to the other side?
If the angles are the same on both year trucks and the fire wall is not molded to recess the elect. Motor I dont see why you could not drill new holes to mount the elect. Motor/bracket with stand offs, fill the holes not needed, wire it and have it work.
Again I do not know the trucks or done this and is based on the pictures you posted.
Good luck

Why are you converting everything to electric? It would seem like it's more hassle than it is worth. The air operated power window in the FLD was really neat. I'd leave it all stock if it was my truck.
-
Only converting the wipers and washer (washer is done). I don't use my window enough to care, and yes, it IS kinda neat. The heat/air conditioner works just fine, so I won't be messing with that either. Main reason is safety/convinience. Delay option, less chance for air leaks, reliability issues, etc. If I can't figure out how to convert it without spending too much, I'll be looking into rebuilding/replacing what I have (though that don't look too cheap either)
-
Sprague made solenoid set up that gave air wipers the delay feature.
-
I'll take your old Sprague air motor and mounting bracket off your hands if you switch to electric.
I want to put a separate motor on the passenger side like the cabovers have. I can get them old motors running like new. -
What's it take to get the motors running good again? More likely than not its not a project I would tackle. It one of those important parts a can't be without, so it's too risky for me lol
-
Take it apart, clean it up and put in new lube. Calls for Dow Corning 200 fluid or something IIRC but I used a mixture of o-ring lube and synthetic 75/90 gear oil. Been running for years like new again.
The insides are plastic. -
How breakable are the insides? I have a tendency to break #### a lot lol
-
not very. it's good quality plastic.
