    I am kicking around the idea of looking at this 05 century with 1 mill miles on a 14L Detroit. How is the longevity on that motor? Would a 12.7 be better with same miles? Thanks in advance.

    Better off buying a 12.7 Detroit (03 and older). If you can, try and snag the elusive 14.0 without EGR. They are a rare engine.

    The12.7 has less expensive parts like Turbo ~ $500, 14L turbo is like $2200. Both engines can go up to 1.2-1.3 mil. miles.

    Found a very nice 02 with 12.7 and bought it. Runs strong and looks good. Being doing all the lil stuff so I know it has been done. New belts fluids hoses and stuff. Thanks for the info guys.

    WE have an 07,12.7 with 1.2mil, running strong and excellent oil samples, just now started with hoses breaking down, in process of replacing all rubber..

    Plastic fan blades disintegrated last week...
