Hi RERM, another thing, if you don't take the flywheel off, make sure you at least replace the pilot bearing. (bearing in the center if the flywheel where the tip of the transmission shaft goes) It's cheap and get a good one. (no chinese junk) Btw, you never said what's wrong with the clutch. You said in a couple of weeks, so it must still be working. When I replaced the clutch, it failed, no ifs ands or buts.

fuller has the model number on a tag on the bottom passeenger(i think, but my memory sucks) side of the transmission...."RTO-XXX" or "RTX-XXX".....should also be listed on the door sticker of thee truck, if freightliner has them, never driven one, but mack, volvo and western star its inside the driver side door jamb.....

as stated, model is not importaant, just the torque capacity and diameter

Well the door stickers are illegible, so I'll check when I'm under the truck....The reason for the new clutch is I'm grinding in first and second (this is at a complete stop) It' s a little cumbersome right now, and the clutch travel is changing (lower and lower) but it still works fairly well and I should have no problems for a week or two....

    SheepDog Thanks this.

Hi RERM, is the clutch hydraulic? Maybe it's just a master or slave cylinder issue.

yep sounds like a slave cylinder is leaking.

When is it a good time to change a clutch? 500,000? I would prefer to change it before it goes out.

Hi SheepDog, depends on the application. 500K on a dump truck or city rig would be unheard of for a clutch. OTR, not so much. An old timer told me once, "If it works, don't break it".

Don't think it's hydraulic, its a self adjusting clutch (my technical know how is limited, hence my friends willingness to help teach me...)
