Since this is my 1st truck, I want to get some sort of warranty. I know it'll be a few thousand extra but I want it anyways for extra insurance. I'd love to have a W900L or 379EXHD but that's out of my price range right now. I'm wanting something reliable, isn't junk, and isn't weak as water. Seems like a little much to ask for with $40K loan. But I'll find one.

Understandable from the company drive point of view. I can do danged near anything to a gasoline engine, but barely have a clue on these bigger diesels. The little amount of diagnostics I can do has saved the company money, but once you throw that DEF system in I'm screwed.

Lots of good trucks out there just got to look ,22 year old Grandson just picked up his first tractor 2007 PETE 387 CONDO 500 Cummins 18 speed 650,000 miles new rad and air to air and top setup , good rubber all around O/O was asking $30,000.00 and had recent invoices of $5300.00 for the service / repairs done to it. Truck is in nice shape spotless inside / out MET blue with the GREY interior not that icky beige pinkish so many had in 2007.

He offered $26,000.00 cash and after a bit of haggling the offer was accepted O/O had been offered $15,000.00 on a trade in on the new 389 PETE he ordered.

If the warranty doesn't cover the emisson components it's not really worth a couple grand as the Emmision failures will be what kills your cash flow btw 35k may be the asking prices in your area but what are the actual selling prices ... Other than inexperienced buyers I'd bet they are 10 to 15 k lower

That's because it was a dealer. There is a difference between what the dealer gives you and what they sell it for. It's the same with all vehicle dealers. I traded an 05 columbia, they gave me 15k and sold it for 24k.
