I inherited a 2007 Freightliner Classic with a Detroit 60, 14L, 515HP, Eaton 13 speed, 1.3 mil miles, rebuilt at 800k, super singles on the drives. We pull tandems for FedEx.
This thing gets 5MPG when I think I should more likely get 6+ The driver on it is a good driver, 15+ years, and gets good MPG's when he drivers my KW's.
Trucks runs fine and smooth, no codes, no issues.
What do you think it should be getting? Can the ECM be tuned or something like that?
thanks

may need a tune up, such as the injectors adjusted the valves adjusted and the Jake adjusted. Thats where i would start.
-
Google "Ugly FIx Charlotte"........yes, it does work.
-
Have overhead run by someone that knows how to do it.

3 years a go I did tune up at w.w. williams -Columbus, oh. they adjusted valves, injectors, jake, turbo and updated ecm software.. they charged me $ 730. I had about 0.8 mpg increase. 05 s60 14l engine.

Usually after I run an overhead people come back in saying they save 300-350 a week in fuel.

It had the overhead run about 5 months ago. I'm going to schedule it for valves/injectors/jake adjustment + ECM programming for "economy mode"
