yes, but you were still a part of the load plan. the "truck" accepted the load, with both drivers accepting responsibility.

Is it normal for most trucking companies to treat their employee's like dirt?? Maybe they did quit under a load and im sure thats a no no, but it really sounds like they we're treated poorly. I am just the wife of a trucker who was treated poorly by a company. P.A.M. Dedicated if anyone is interested. They treated him very badly.

you see that's the thing. we can't treat them like dirt, but apparently its ok for them to treat us like such. we each handle the situation our own ways. i too will just up and quit, but usually i'm already at home, or at a terminal when i do this, under a load or not, i don't really care. as long as the load is safely on company property, that's all i do care about. most all of the companies will report this as abandonment under a load. its how your husband handles the situation at a later time at a job interview. most companies also know that many things are false in a DAC report, and may take into considration circumstances why anyone "ups and quits under a load".

Ok, the thing is you are responsable as cdl holder for everything(i mean everything) Associated with that load. It may have been a team opperation, but it does not matter. When you accepted the load, you and you alone are in charge of every aspect of that load........
While I think gainey is the worst way a driver can spend his/her time. That does not matter, You quit under load. There is not a company out there
that would do it any diferently. sory!
To avoid this next time, i will give you an example of what i have done.
I was frusterated with my first OTR company, and decide to quit.
I waited untill i was 150 miles from there yard, and called them after i droped my load. i told him to send me home, i am done. I had to bobtail to a truck stop, and stay overnight. then bobtail 135miles, just to pickup a relay to drive 15miles. Pain in the butt yes, but beter than having to pay them the money to recover the truck. You are lucky, Because they and the shiper Have full legal right to recover the loss for you walking away, even if there was no loss. I'd feel realy lucky if i were you.

Re: gainey transportation services hanover p.a.

A couple of concerns I have here............
A trainer and TWO trainees in this truck?
This driver seems to be overly concerned about his trainer going home to see his wife.........

I trained for 7 years and every time I had the chance I went home....Why are these people upset because the man went home? Do you feel he is not entitled to home time? You like your home time don't you?

Gainey sux.......It is your fault for signing on with them, it is your fault for quitting under a load...............

It is time to learn that all jobs have hardships associated with them.....trucking is one of those that has more then most.........learn to deal with it or go work for Burger King (McDonald's gets such a bad rap when used in this context).

Re: gainey transportation services hanover p.a.

Wouldnt being at the home terminal be a good thing when you quit a job?...I just dont understand why the trainees in this situation are upset about the trainer going to see his wife first of all, and secondly....as trainees with a trainer isnt the trainer the one that is supposed to teach/tell them how to do things????

I guess having been both in various fields as the trainer I would be expected to be on top of the situation???? OR did the trainees just get a bug in thier back pocket and not discuss anything with the trainer/management and just leave??? even if they did how is that abandoning a load?, they were at home terminal and the trainer is still there to deliver the load, not like they left the truck in a rest area and caught a cab.....

The home terminal was not the consinee, When you acept the load you are resposable for the load, starting at the shipper & only ending only at the consignee peorid..... And although the trainer may have been able to
finish the load,he might not of. He could have skipped the whole thing
By asking for a relay before he got to the terminal.
